Banish The Cellulite For Good

Don’t be afraid to wear that mini skirt this summer! Banish cellulite forever.  You know those dimples are getting in the way, so why not?  First thing to do is not freak out about it, but understand it, and win the fight!

What exactly is cellulite?

It would be easy to say it was just run-of-the-mill fat that can be staved off with diet and exercise, but have you seen skinny bodies with those unsightly dimples on the back of their thighs? I have.

Cellulite is actually fat cells found underneath the top layer of the skin that have squeezed between bands of connective tissue, attaching muscle to the skin.

Where does it come from?

It could be genetics, it could be poor circulation or a number of other factors, but the fact remains it makes us feel unattractive, no matter the size of our bodies. So, how to banish those wrinkles and divets that seem to stubbornly stick to our legs?

Experts say to ditch the expensive creams that promise to reduce cellulite – there may be temporary improvement due to active ingredients such as retinol or caffeine which improves blood flow, but no proven lasting changes.

Cosmetic surgery is the only way to truly and permanently solve your cellulite problem and the two reportedly most effective procedures are laser treatments and radiofrequency therapies.

radiofrquency therapy for cellulite

Radiofrequency therapy

A 2012 study published in the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology found that 89 percent of women who underwent radiofrequency therapy reduced their cellulite. These treatments, VelaSmooth for example, use light energy to first pre-heat the area, while radio-frequency energy redistributes the fat and connective tissue.

Laser therapy

FDA approved treatments such as Cellulaze and CelluSmooth work by targeting the actual structural problems underneath the skin. Small incisions are made to the area and a laser is inserted to the incision site. The laser melts the fat and cuts through the fibrous bands that pull on and cause dimples in the skin; the liquefied fat is then pressed out.

Talk to your plastic surgeon about costs, which hover around the $5,000 mark– it’s worth a thousand miniskirts and bikini-seasons to come!
